• My shredder does not work

  Check if the shredder is plugged in and if the socket has power. For shredders with an ON/OFF switch put the switch in the ON position. For shredders without such a switch, move the shredder switch to the forward position. Check your instruction manual for details. Feed paper into the shredder mouth, if the shredder does not start shredding, check if the shredder head is placed in the correct position on the bin. For shredders with a pull out bin or pull out frame check if the bin and the frame are pushed in all the way and that the door is closed properly.

• My shredder is jammed

  Empty the waste bin or waste bag. Set the shredder switch into the Reverse position. This will remove the jammed paper from the cutting head. Start shredding again, if the shredder jams again move the shredder switch carefully from Reverse to Forward a few times, to remove the jammed paper out of the cutting head. If necessary, pull out the paper extruding from the cutting head. Oiling the cutting head can improve the performance of the shredder, use Rexel Oil sheets or Rexel shredder oil (with Rexel's auto-oiling technology) and check your instruction manual.

• My shredder has stopped while shredding

  The shredder needs to cool down. Leave the shredder for 20-30 minutes before attempting to shred again. Check the shredder isn’t jammed. Larger Rexel shredders do not need a cooling down period and can be used continuously.

• My shredder will not take paper when fed in.

  Check whether the cutters inside the shredder are moving. This can be seen by looking into the paper feed entry. If the motor is running but the cutters are not moving you might have a gear problem. Please contact your dealer for repair or replacement.

• My shredder has paper wrapped around the cutters

  Switch off the shredder, empty the waste bin or waste sack, switch the shredder on again and remove the paper jam.

• Shredder keeps on running continuously

  Switch off and unplug the shredder. Check if there is any paper left in the paper entry near the mechanical switch or sensor and remove that paper with a cotton swab, do not use a knife or scissors or other metal objects. Put the plug back into the power socket, switch on the shredder and start shredding, putting the shredder switch into the forward position.

• Shredder only runs in reverse mode

  Put the shredder switch into forward position and continue shredding for 5 seconds to clear a paper blockage. You can also switch from Forward to Reverse a number of times until the cutting head is clean.

• My Rexel Auto-Feed shredder continues to run without any paper remaining in the feed area

  This can be caused by paper dust or a piece of paper on the auto start sensors. Turn of the shredder at the mains and use a dry soft cloth to wipe any dust from the sensors. Switch on the shredder again and continue shredding.

• My shredder makes an unusual noise

  All shredders, but paticularly confetti cut shredders, need frequent oiling. This will maximise the performance of the shredder and will prolong the usable life of the machine. Those Rexel shredders without the automatic oiling feature can be lubricated by using Rexel Oil Sheets or Rexel's standard oil. You need to oil the shredder more if you use the shredder frequently. Using shredder oil is easy. Simply put some oil onto a piece of paper before feeding the paper into the shredder. Do not use other brands or types of oil or aerosols, they can combust and can cause serious injury.

• My shredder continues to run after the paper is shredded.

  Every shredder needs to run from 2 to 5 seconds after completing the primary shredding operation to ensure the cutters remain clear of residual bits of shredded paper. Some Rexel shredders run forward and backwards automatically to clean the cutting head after emptying the bin or bag (Auto Clean feature)

• My shredder shreds less paper than before or as mentioned in the product specifications
